AfterShip Co-building Planet stands out with its innovative approach to interior design. Rather than robots sitting in a cold control cabin, the space is filled with A-Geeks driving their dream ships to their Minecraft. This unconventional concept brings a sense of playfulness and creativity to the design. The use of green throughout the space symbolizes hope and new life, creating a refreshing and vibrant atmosphere.
Upon entering the reception area on the 4th floor, visitors are greeted by a data nebula forming an oasis of connection and hope. Moving through the jungle-style corridor, the lush grass-green color gently undulates around the Wellness Center, creating a soothing and calming environment. The fitness room is bathed in natural sunlight, keeping the wonderland alive and inspiring visitors to stay active and energized.
The realization of this unique design required innovative technology and custom solutions. To meet the client's soundproof requirements, Joe Ho and his team designed their own product in collaboration with a factory in Dongguan. The enclosed phone booths feature double-glazed foldable doors with added sound seals and reeded glass for privacy. Acoustic panels with a wave pattern were installed inside the phone booths to enhance soundproofing and ventilation.
The foldable doors for the phone booths measure 3000mm in height and 900mm in width. To ensure stability, the door frames were tailor-made with a 50mm width and 25mm thickness of aluminum. The components inside the frame were reinforced to accommodate the height of the glass panels. This attention to detail and craftsmanship ensures a seamless and functional design.
AfterShip Co-building Planet was a collaborative effort involving various team members, including Gabby Farnan, Marie Talj, and Joe Ho. Their collective expertise and creativity contributed to the success of this project.
The design of AfterShip Co-building Planet was inspired by a seminar held with the client and sirendesign. By incorporating different entry points of Chinese and Western design, the team sparked new ideas and found inspiration for the office's new design direction.
The project took place in Shenzhen and began in 2021, with completion in June of the same year. Throughout the process, the design team faced challenges in not only the interior planning and design but also in creating a unique corporate culture for AfterShip. The project involved the development planning of an entire planet, with senior managers and employees participating in activities that built, cultivated, sowed, and bred civilization on the planet.
AfterShip Co-building Planet has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design of AfterShip Co-building Planet integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings while contributing to a better world.
AfterShip Co-building Planet is a testament to the power of design to create unique and inspiring spaces. Joe Ho's vision and creativity have transformed a logistics company's office into a captivating environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
